Hello there--long time, no see.



I don't know where my time goes since I left school, but I must say that it passes pleasantly. A baby peeking between books on a library shelf would have always been cute before, but nowadays, it really hits me to the heart. And, I see adorableness everywhere I go these days.

Take, for instance, Autumn with her new jumbo foam rollers bought at the pharmacy-store. She simply wanted smooth waves, but I couldn't help but see the cute cartoon quality of Autumn's curler look. I insisted on a photo shoot.



Hair rollers were an oft-used look enhancer of the 1960s, and I've heard stories of girls going to bed wearing the hard version of what you see here: Autumn's set is designed by Hello Kitty, it would seem.



Gwen Stefani has the same idea with her new Harajuku Lovers fragrances: four bottles that are look-alikes of the multi-talented Stefani and her Japanese girls, all outfitted in anime style. Autumn and I first learned of the scents from the "Beauty Blogger" column in the August 2008 Teen Vogue. (The youthful styles of Teen Vogue suit Autumn better than its senior counterpart.) Aren't the doll bottles cunning and don't they look like they could be wearing curlers?



My sister wearing curlers?! Now, you've seen everything...

I was just reflecting that chat-up lines can be rather funny, and here are a few good ones, courtesy of Google:

Lest you think that I have just one pretty sister, you should take note that I have at least two! (I actually have three very pretty sisters, but it's Amber who's the guest of this post.) A short while ago, my sisters were set to go to a party, and I took these pictures just as they were heading out the door. Some boys really should work on their chat-up lines.



Let me tell you about what a fan I am of white on white! It's retro without really being retro, and I am perhaps the only person who thinks of 1970s "soft rock" when I catch a glimpse of this kind of monochromatic dressing. I can almost hear Feist's recent rendition of the song by Barry Gibb (yes, the Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees): "I ain't no vision...."

But, Autumn's party clothes are very visionary: White clothes altogether have a danger of looking too dainty, but Autumn circumvents this challenge by making sure that her top is sporty. Notice the shirt's "v" neckline that forms a hood in the back and front "kangaroo" pocket. Autumn reiterates this sportif motif with the sunglasses (white-rimmed, of course) perched on top of her head. The rest of the outfit could be considered quite feminine, the full skirt made of a soft cotton lace fabric. Oh, and did you notice her "baseball diamond" bracelet? (In case you were wondering what kind of shoes Autumn was wearing, I'll tell you: They were white flip-flops with a slight wedge.)

What I like best about all-white clothes on my sister is that they bring out her almost anime eyes and smile.

I picked-up Sara Bareilles' semi-new CD at my very local library lately and have been enjoying her splashy songs. (Sara Bareilles graduated from UCLA, you know, and won the "Spring Sing" annual music competition there twice. In that case, of course, she's of interest!) I thought that the above verse is appropriate for Autumn's recent "lined" dressing.

Black and white is usually a keen combination for this sleek dresser that is my sister, and I particularly like this outfit of hers. Its empire (high) waist and short a-line skirt is cute, cute, cute--and what's that I see? A sweet bow ties around the middle.

I have to tell you: This dress came from that high-impact fashion shop with bargain prices, Forever 21, but Autumn did a lot to improve it. Looking at the dress on the hanger at the store, it didn't appear very wearable for most occasions, because it was a strapless deal. But, Autumn took the dress and paired it with the black short puffed-sleeved t-shirt--and voila! It is a summertime hit.
